An Indonesian migrant worker in Taiwan has won a top prize of NT$1 million (US$34,270) in the island’s local lottery scratch-off ticket. According to the Liberty Times, a worker named Y bought the ticket on February 14 at an outlet in Hsinchu City’s East District. The winner decided to keep only NT$50,000 of the winnings and sent the rest home so that she can build her family a new house.
The winner is the only one who has won a top prize in the past two years. Last year, another Indonesian migrant worker in Taiwan won NT$8 million (US$326,300) in the same game.
