Wok’s project was inspired by a lottery model that is based on arisan — a collective saving system – practised in Indonesia. Using this model, he adapted and fused the lottery to serve as a new funding model for art organisations and artists’ collectives.
In the end, it is a socially-engaged project that seeks to support art organisations by reimagining the way in which the lottery operates within art communities. It is a practice-based research project that was developed during Wok’s residency at the Casco Art Institute in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
