How to Play Poker in Indonesia

Poker is one of the most popular card games in the world. There’s simply no alternative to poker in Indonesia. And that’s the way it should be. Legal online poker in Indonesia, or online poker in any other form, is definitely not legal. And it probably won’t be any time soon either.

While online poker is still a game of skill, like every other game, it is still grouped together with casinos and betting. But Indonesia already has a huge population (over261 million) so having a casino is only going to be a small part of the overall pie. Instead, the government has been trying to open up more casinos and poker rooms, but it’s been a hit so far. Most of the failures however have been in Java, with only one in Surabaya.

Java and Surabaya offer great nightlife and great beaches, but they don’t have the kind of poker or casino scene that you would find in Indonesia. Indonesia is probably one of the few places on earth where you will find this level of saturation of casino action and gaming. The problem is still wide open in the other Indonesian regions, and the law doesn’t seem to be too stringent when it comes to gaming operators within smaller cities. That means players, especially those who frequent bigger cities, have a lot of options, but it can be hard to find the big games.
